History

Sağlık-Sen, the Health and Social Workers Union, was founded on June 6, 1995 as the “Unionof Environment and Health Workers”. Under the Presidency of Dr. Ahmet AKSU, B. Necati ŞİMŞEK, İlknur POYRAZ, Bülent KUTLUCA, Yaşar BAŞARAN, Bünyamin SAYIN, Hüseyin BALTACI, Nihat ÜLGEN, Taner GÖKÇINAR, Hüseyin ERENER, Fuat ÇALIŞKAN, Kürşat DERİCİ and Yaşar KARAPINAR under the chairmanship of Dr. Ahmet AKSU, the Health and Environment Union was renamed as the Health and Social WorkersUnion (SAĞLIK-SEN) with the amendment of its statute in 1999 and became the pioneer of service unionism in Turkey with its principled and effective stance and activities.
